Elder has too much on his shoulders and he is worried about everything and everybody.
Shiko is a simple guy who has one purpose - to not let the undead overrun the world. He would make this adventure more interesting and darker and less predictable.

Elder got a lot of help in the past and is central contact. Shiko asks less help and maybe there is more potential to do new quests with undead or derelict house.

Everyone who comes to town stops and chats with the Elder.
He certainly knows a lot, but he's also worried about it all. He has a lot of problems to solve from all of us, and he could use a little break!
Shiko is behind town, not everyone goes there often, so there are fewer problems to solve, except for the fact that it's the alpha and omega for the undead.
For this reason, I think the Elder needs help a lot more!

Shiko had to deal with a lot of skeletton warrios who are running around all day. I dont know how he is dodging them, but he really needs help and some rest. The Elder only has to face some fluffy kretch who run aways when you look at them. poor Shiko
