Pet did not advance to level 11, but reset xp back 0 as level 10?

My purple pet Spider should have reached level 11 today, but instead of advancing, it reset back to 0 xp out of 8674, as a level 10.

Message received was.

11:18 Your pet has advanced to level 10.

Not sure, if it makes a difference, that I have a grey level 1 spider as well?
